ONLINE ELECTIONS for MAR OFFICERS
Welcome!
YOU found the new "streamlined" location for the annual online elections for the MAR Officers of the Mid-Appalachian Region of the National Speleological Society. The online elections process has two parts consisting of a Nominiations period and a Voting period.
NOMINATIONS |
Online nominations will remain open until Saturday, November 23, 2024, at which time nomations will close.
After nominations are closed, all nominees will be contacted to verify they are willing to run for office.
Please take a few minutes and make any nomination(s) that you wish to suggest. Nominees, however, must be a NSS member and a Caver of the Region (member of a MAR Grotto or an independent caver residing in DE, MD, NJ, or PA). Once elected, the three officers determine their officer positions.
Current 2024 MAR Officers are: Rick Smith, Ryan Mason, and Dennis Melko. |

VOTING |
Upon completion of a two (2) week break after nominations are closed, online voting will open on Sunday, December 8, 2024, and remain open till 12:00 AM (Midnight) on Tuesday, December 31, 2024.
Those elected will determine their respective officer position and will fullfill their 2025 officer term (1-year term) by running the 2025 MAR Business Meeting on Saturday, February 22, 2025. |

OFFICER DESCRIPTIONS:
- Chair - The Chair shall direct the affairs of the Region but shall be subordinate to the Council. The Chair shall preside at Council meetings.
- Vice-Chair -The Vice-Chair shall perform duties as assigned by the Chair and the Regional Council. The Vice-Chair shall assume the authority and duties of the Chair in case of the Chair's resignation or inability to serve. The Vice-Chair shall assume that portion of the Chair's visitation and representation duties that the Chair deems necessary.
- Secretary - The Secretary shall keep the minutes of all Council meetings, be custodian of the records, and conduct correspondence as directed by the Chair.
